According to Cabinet.com the so-called Granite State ‘Fair Tax’ Coalition (NOT to be confused with the Coalition of NH Taxpayers) is coming to speak to Bedford voters on the 23rd.

Their leader Rev. Exner stated: “Our group does not favor any one legislative proposal, but rather hopes that all options will remain on the table for discussion. We are just looking for the fairest way to meet the state’s obligations. Liberals and conservatives agree that more property taxes would be painful and bad policy.”

Do not be fooled. This outside-funded group is still peddling an income tax. Now THAT would be painful.

How ludicrous to assert, as if they had the authority to do so, that “in 2009, more than three-quarters of voters at town meetings around the state voted to get rid of ‘the pledge.'”

Please be advised that NO one can just “get rid” of The Pledge, least of all the government or an outsider group that has insisted on sticking its nose in NH town meetings where it doesn’t belong.

Most people thought they were voting for a non-binding resolution to reduce taxes. They then in fact turned right around and voted NO on most spending items in those same towns, items that were binding.

It is hoped that Bedford residents will have the resolve to attend this forum and tell them what the state’s “obligation” is: “It’s the spending, stupid”!

One CANNOT just vote to “instruct state lawmakers to ditch The Pledge”. As far as we know, we still have free speech in this country, and apparently much to the dismay of this group, for more candidates took The Pledge in 2008 than EVER before.

Note: Since UU’s ‘Action Network’ site seems to have gone away, here is a similar version for Nashua and the main site for the UU Church and their goals.

Please be advised that as they are discovered, sites come and go to hide their agenda.

Update 2019: UU Action Network is back.
