Once again, failed candidate Mark Fernald and his band of outsiders is pushing for an income tax. From a recent NHBR article:

Income tax gets a boost at forum

“The Milford Town Hall was the location for a forum on Wednesday night hosted by the Granite State Fair Tax Coalition. The coalition has long fought against the reliance on property taxes – a position that often equates with support for an income or state-wide sales tax.

Mark Fernald, a former state senator who ran unsuccessfully for governor in 2002 on an income tax platform, moderated the panel.”

Readers should know a few facts about the above group that the Telegraph article doesn’t reveal:

– The group Granite State Fair Tax Coalition is hardly local. It is well-funded by groups outside NH. The NH Council of Churches is an offshoot of the World Council of Churches, which is nothing more than a pseudo-religious political arm of the United Nations. WCC is but one of many tentacles of the UN that has reached in at the state and local government levels, in an attempt to control the people and property.

– Once taxes are broadbased, such as an income or sales tax, citizens would not have control as they now have over their property taxes. Property taxes can be lowered by simply attending town and school meetings and voting NO to more spending.

– Income and sales taxes have never, to date, lowered property taxes ANYWHERE they have been instituted. See our Documents section on the right for two studies from Conn and Vt which prove this: “15 Years of Folly” and “A River Divides It”

– The resolution that was passed in town meetings was non-binding. People were tricked into thinking that somehow, the “Pledge” was helping to keep taxes high. Preying on the desire of all to lower taxes, the resolution was worded in such a way as to confuse people into supporting it. At first GSFTC protested the idea that this was about an income tax, but having since been exposed, now seem to be admitting it.
