Senate Bill 198 would have added public members to the assessing standards board and require that the chairperson of the board not be a senator or house of representatives member

Bill Text:
SB 198

The bill was heard by the Senate Executive Departments and Administration Committee on Tuesday, March 17th.

The bill is sponsored by Senator Deborah Reynolds at the urging of Tom Thomson, son of former Governor Meldrim Thomson.

SB 198 would have added more Public Members to the NH Assessing Standards Board, the ASB, and would have also restricted any senator or representative from chairing that board. This would surely have given the public a better voice in how properties are assessed in NH.

This bill was deemed ITL and failed on a voice vote.
