On March 11, Brookline voters soundly defeated the school board’s attempt to rescind our local tax cap, via Brookline School District Article 7.

The school board says the local tax cap restricts their ability to freely propose “required” spending. And the school board “blames” Concord for making them actually count all appropriations to be under the tax cap! They are upset at 2024 HB1105 which solidified the local tax cap, prime sponsored by SDGA member Rep. Diane Pauer, with 8 House and Senate co-sponsors. HB1105 was important enough to Gov. Sununu to have it as one of his few bill signing ceremonies last year.

Warrant article 7 needed 60% Yes to rescind, and only got 47% Yes (459 Yes, 513 No).

Voters have spoken, again!

Of course, the “left” media only wants to talk about budget caps and tax caps that did not pass.
