Press Conference Tomorrow in Portsmouth – May 18, 2010 at 10:00 AM in Popovers on the Square, 8 Congress St., Portsmouth, NH.

Come Tell Concord Politicians NO More Taxes!

The NH Senate and House passed a new Local Sales Tax option aimed directly at Restaurants, Hotels and the patrons that go out to eat, drink and stay overnight in our State. This new tax is local (will be instituted at the local town by town level) and has no cap. As you know, with the 12.5% increase in the R & M tax last year, New Hampshire is now tied with having the highest tax on going out to eat or drink. This new tax will allow local towns to tack on an additional, unlimited amount, over the existing R & M tax now.

Just like the LLC Income Tax, this new (as of Thursday night May 13th) selective sales tax on anyone who goes out to eat was approved without any public notice or public hearings.

Business owners know how difficult it is out there right now. Business is tough, expenses are up and we need to focus on being efficient and living within our means.

Please come down to Popovers at 10:00 AM and support your neighborhood businesses, support your right to go out to eat without any new excessive sales tax on your meals, drinks or lodging.
