SB 152 is a bill that would authorize the building of a high-end casino in the Granite State. Sponsored by Senator Lou D’Allesandro, Governor Hassan testified in full support of the legislation. In fact, she claimed that the social impacts of gambling already exist here in New Hampshire, and so we should be “reaping” the economic benefits. It is a notable admission for the governor to recognize the social consequences of gambling, and testimony was given that focused on how gambling exacerbates current cultural decline and is an irresponsible means for bringing short-term revenue into the State.
