A bill filed by Rep. Laurie Pettengill, and co-sponsored by Reps Gregory Hill, Seth Cohn, and Ken Kreis, would allow parents to remove children from schools that institute the International Baccalaureate program.

This is especially good news for those who attend the Merrimack Valley Regional School District which has decided to implement this program system-wide although they claim they will NOT sign the mission statement and NOT use the materials. In a recent meeting with the curriculum committee, taxpayers and Reps asked, so what are you paying for? We got few answers and it seems their minds are made up. So this bill would be protection for parents who disagree with the political agenda that is imposed on the students by IB.

HB 1403 is a 2012 bill allowing a parent or guardian to withdraw a child from a school district which adopts the international baccalaureate program.

Please write or call the members of the House Education Committee to lend your support to this bill.

The next hearing will be on 01/26/2012 at 11:00 AM in LOB Room 207.
