Although four area towns are among the 11 communities most affected by the state’s education funding formula, they don’t have local representation on a legislative panel formed to tackle the issue.

House Speaker William O’Brien announced yesterday the creation of the Special Committee on Education Funding Reform. The group is expected to deal with all issues involving the controversial formula to fund New Hampshire’s schools.

The formula is one of several over the years to draw scrutiny from both towns and state residents, with many saying their communities are slapped with an unfair share of the tax burden.
