{"id":901,"date":"2009-11-09T21:00:10","date_gmt":"2009-11-10T01:00:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cnht.org\/news\/?p=901"},"modified":"2009-12-12T21:03:01","modified_gmt":"2009-12-13T01:03:01","slug":"former-new-castle-police-chief-indicted","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cnht.org\/news\/2009\/11\/09\/former-new-castle-police-chief-indicted\/","title":{"rendered":"Former New Castle police chief indicted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>November 9, 2009<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/www.seacoastonline.com\/articles\/20091109-NEWS-911099978\">Seacoast Online<\/a><\/p>\n<p>BRENTWOOD \u2014 Former New Castle police chief James Murphy was indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury on a felony count of \u201ctheft by unauthorized taking or transfer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Murphy is being prosecuted by the state Attorney General&#8217;s office, which alleges he stole $8,675 from the Coast Guard\/New Castle Police Food Drive between November 2002 and December 2004.<br \/>\nRelated Stories<\/p>\n<p>Murphy, 53, is being represented by attorney Michael Marsille, his Nov. 17 Portsmouth District Court arraignment has been cancelled, and the case is transferred to Rockingham County Superior Court.<\/p>\n<p>According to the AG&#8217;s office, Murphy confessed to the thefts on Oct. 1 and claimed he stole the money for his wife, who is not charged with a crime.
