{"id":2886,"date":"2013-07-03T13:36:59","date_gmt":"2013-07-03T18:36:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cnht.org\/news\/?p=2886"},"modified":"2017-12-03T14:40:07","modified_gmt":"2017-12-03T19:40:07","slug":"big-deal-so-what-who-cares-%e2%80%93-oh-yeah","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cnht.org\/news\/2013\/07\/03\/big-deal-so-what-who-cares-%e2%80%93-oh-yeah\/","title":{"rendered":"Big Deal, So What, Who Cares \u2013 Oh Yeah?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><em>by Ed Naile<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I was looking at an article in the Goffstown News about a controversy regarding several gifts of land by private citizens to the Town of Goffstown.<\/p>\n<p>What could be the problem?<\/p>\n<p>Trust is the problem when you deal with some municipalities.<\/p>\n<p>And here we go.<\/p>\n<p>The people donating the land want it for \u201ctown purposes only\u201d NOT commercial use.<\/p>\n<p>But the town thinks that would tie their hands and they are not moving forward on the donation very fast.<\/p>\n<p>You see, the Town may want to sell the parcels and THEN use them as and appropriation to buy other parcels. Heck, they might even let the voters know what is going on. But it was not that long ago that 20 acres of \u201cconservation land\u201d became a new school, one third of which had to filled in because it was \u2013 hold your breath \u2013 wetlands.<\/p>\n<p>Remember how important and unique wetlands are until a new school proposal rears its expensive head.<br \/>\nBack in 2005 the Selectmen pulled  fast one on the people who donated the \u201cconservation land\u2019 the school filled, dredged, and built the new school.<\/p>\n<p>Here is the court case brought by taxpayers, The Goffstown Residents Association, in an attempt to stop the project: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.goffstownresidentsassociation.com\/TRO.htm\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\">hGoffstown Residents Association v.
