We are holding a public, or as we are calling it, a civic meeting, in Antrim regarding our efforts to put a warrant article on the Antrim Town Meeting warrant. CNHT went out and rounded up signatures for petition.<\/p>\n<p>Our petitioned warrant article is on the ballot and calls for the adoption of a budget committee under RSA 32, the Municipal Finance Law.<\/p>\n<p>Antrim\u2019s financial status is a wreck since it was discovered late last year that grants were improperly accounted for in Antrim\u2019s budgets for several years creating what one might call a checking account overdraft.<\/p>\n<p>The selectmen and town administrator are opposed to the adoption of a budget committee. This town administrator is the third in a year and a half. Our argument is that a budget committee might have noticed a creeping financial problem and stopped it before it became a million dollar mistake.<\/p>\n<p>This is an offer taxpayers shouldn\u2019t refuse.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>March 2, 2010 by Ed Naile CNHT will be trying something new this evening.
