New Hampshire HB 368 Survey to Superintendents Subcommittee Work Session Scheduled
Please Attend!

The New Hampshire House Education sub-committee has scheduled a meeting to discuss its proposed “Survey to Superintendents” on September 29, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. in Legislative Office Building 207. The intent of the survey is to “collect data” from superintendents regarding the homeschool law. We are asking homeschoolers to attend this meeting, if possible.

While this meeting is but a continuation of the study effort, we believe that valid research shows that homeschooling produces superior academic performance. The New Hampshire Education committee’s continuing efforts to impose increased regulation on homeschoolers is completely contrary to these facts. HSLDA opposes all attempts to modify the current law. However, if there is to be change, let it be change to reduce the amount of regulation on home educators. HSLDA will work with New Hampshire homeschool leaders and freedom-loving legislators to defend and increase freedom for New Hampshire homeschoolers in the upcoming legislative session.

Also, a group of concerned New Hampshire homeschoolers have posted a petition calling on “the House Education Committee to carefully review the history and strong tradition of parental rights during their study of HB 368”. HSLDA understands that the intent is to deliver this petition with comments to the education committee. HSLDA supports this petition and encourages all New Hampshire homeschoolers to review the petition and sign it.

Thank you for your strong support for homeschool freedom in the “Live Free or Die” state!
