Sometimes the arrogance of public officials is breathtaking.

It has been reported to CNHT that at a recent Monadnock Regional School District meeting, Monadnock citizens questioned the Chairman, Gene White, about his use of the reverse 911 system. This system was installed for the purpose of notifying parents and residents of emergencies using robocalls.

Chairman White apparently readily admitted that he had indeed done so and his voice as well as the Budget Committee Chairman’s voice were on the calls that asked residents to get out and vote in favor of the school contract.

This is clearly illegal. Taxpayer funded public services are not to be used for any sort of electioneering, by law.

When reminded of this, Mr. White became loud and the Board voted to remove him from the Chairman’s position for the night because he became so out of control. Apparently Mr. White had in the past, taken a swing at one of the citizens who had questioned him at a public meeting.

This type of illegal activity is so common that parents do not think twice, for example, about their children being used to carry home political literature, teachers’ government funded websites being used to promote their job contracts, or email lists of parents being used to promote political messages.

However, if this happens at your child’s school please be sure to report it to us and/or the NH Attorney General’s and Secretary of State’s Office.
